Such a parade We lined the streets Bands in step with the wishes of the day We waved they waved Silhouette waving to anyone who was nobody at all Heroes of never-should-have-been wars feeling lucky to be alive Marchers Pedestrians Birds in flight shadows of wished for greatness We are all lucky to be alive Surveying surviving strugglers of wars of life Always on parade Trying to stay in step one more time

Each country I go to changes me a bit

Aging is fun
I am old and young in the same instance
That is how each country
Changes me

In the bombed-out castle of love

I surrender
Now is the time to make a monument of me
Or at least a fridge magnet made in China
Sold in souvenir shops
anywhere

Finally at the intersection

Directions aborted
Maps antiquated
GPS signal lost
Stars a no-show
So I spend my life at the intersection
Going nowhere
Fast
If someone were to join me
We would go nowhere together
quicker
