Thoughts in Patterns is a series of ten e-books featuring an average of 145 picture-poems, an art form developed by Dr. Terrell Neuage over fifty years, combining imagery and text from travels in 50+ countries.
Originally from upstate New York, Dr. Terrell Neuage left in 1965 at age 17 to explore the world. From the 1960s California hippie lifestyle to a street artist in New Orleans, a member of the Holy Order of MANS, and a single parent in Australia, his life has been a journey of discovery. With a fascination for combining imagery with text, Terrell has created picture-poems for over fifty years, using photography and multimedia from travels in 26 countries. His works reflect a life of adventure, from surviving hepatitis C to earning a PhD at age 58. This PhD thesis explores how conversation in text-based chatrooms differs from everyday dialogue, using linguistic theories such as Semiotic Analysis, Speech Act Theory, Discourse Analysis, and Conversational Analysis.
