Christmas 1980 Honolulu with wife number one
Christmas 1980, we spent in our apartment with a large, decorated tree and Lesia and I gave one another several presents. 1980 had been quite the year from when we had met in January in Sydney to Lesia’s arrival in Towson to driving across the States to my receiving the news that she was pregnant to getting married, changing my name – it was the third time for me. I was born Terry Miller, adopted as Terry changed to Terrell with the new surname Adsit and now I was a Neuage. I had a bit of a promiscuous start to the year, having three lovers in New Zealand and four lovers the weekend Lesia ‘fell’ pregnant and there were several lovers and girlfriends in between but by mid-year there was only Lesia and our sex was so infrequent that it was good that I had gotten my fill prior to August of the year or I would most definitely being looking for some other source for my attention seeking ways. At the end of 1980 I waited for the birth of my child.
We left the lanai doors open as we did for most evenings and let the trade winds come in – it was New Years 1981 and still no sign of our child. He or she was running late by about a week and we sat out on the balcony as Hawaii celebrated. Even at our thirteenth-floor height the smoke from the firecrackers and whatever else was being used to celebrate the year 1981 filled our apartment.
It was a new year, whatever had happened in the past was but a stepping-stone to the moment, and the moment was rapidly approaching the future and changes that I could not ever imagine. In ancient times, Oahu, was the 'gathering place' according to the locals and now the forces of Lesia and my life had gathered to continue into the decade of the 1980s that we had begun so unwittingly twelve- months earlier.

END OF BOOK 1
BOOK TWO IS ABOUT LIFE AS A SINGLE PARENT IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY
T ryThis
Book two is longer than book 1.
Continuation of this story beginning with the birth of Sacha and our sudden exit to Australia.
Book two tells the story of my raising two boys in rural Australia in quite a hostile environment as a single parent. One son, Leigh Neuage was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers and was a pitcher for them for three years. I will be going to Sydney next week to leave a thought where he took his life thirteen years ago. Sacha is doing great after a turbulent journey through adolescence. He is now a DJ, rapper, graffiti artist, recording person in Melbourne along with other stuff.
I was also a tofu manufacturer for eight years – with a tofu factory.
Since the story above, book 1, I have done seventeen years of study in universities. I came to Australia with a tenth-grade education. Now with my PhD and teacher’s degree I have taught at universities in the States and in every grade of K – 12 schools in New York and China. Currently I am
still teaching (primary school in South Australia – 2016) and living with my wife of the past sixteen years.
I am still doing picture poems, fifty years after starting them in New York City. See me in Amazon. About fifteen books.
For as long as I have the website e-books and my writing and capers in life are at http://neuage.org I have had my neuage.org site for more than thirty years and will have it until I no longer have it.
I run a random blog at http://neuage.me I still do my picture poems – almost daily.
Below is me when I was still doing and selling picture poems as a street person – Adelaide, South Australia, 1992.
“My mom always spoke fondly of you. It is clear to me that you were the love of her life.”

We visited Randy December 2016, days before Christmas. He died soon after. I Skyped with him as he died; him in Eugene Oregon me in Adelaide, Australia. He was high on whatever pain meds they gave him. He had cancer along with several other life ending matters. I said, ‘we had a good life, didn’t we?’ He laughed. He died soon after.
