Teachers actively engage in personal and collegial learning within the  professional community

I have done this through the continuing of my personal education to enhance and promote my teaching skills. As a technology teacher it is important to continue with further development and improvement in all areas of ICT. Often students will enquire about a new social fade or game on-line and it is the responsibility of the educational staff, in this instance, me, to access the information to learn whether there is an adaptable procedure for its use within the educational classroom. For example, finding how to use Facebook, Youtube (evidence  evidence), Twitter, Wikis (evidence evidence) and games such as Civilization, within the syllabus that would benefit the student's personal interest.

Also, even though I have taught for years, one school, The Dwight School, thought my classes were a bit rowdy so I was sent to a two day classroom management workshop. At first I was quite resistance and my ego got in the way but after I let go and got involved I learned a lot that I have used in classrooms since, always with great results.

For example I have taken the following courses in the past few years (click for certification as evidence):
A. International Baccalaureate® (IB) Middle Years Program - technology,
B. A+ CompTIA PC Technician,
C. Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (evidence)
D. TESOL (English as a Second Language) 1 (International Teacher of English License), 2 (Advanced TESOL) 3 (TESOL Computing)
2. I constantly research and study and learn new software to find the most suitable for various classes. A listing of these can be found at http://neuage.co/tabor
3. I follow technology and educational blogs and wikis to identify trends and to stay up-todate so that as both computer teacher and as technological integrator I am able to be relavant in all areas and a leader in my field.

Practicums were at these three schools: First and Second Semester 2010

During my time at Hudson School, Hoboken; St. Luke's School, New York City, I attended staff meetings regularly and contributed with professional development at St. Luke's School. At Torrens Valley Christians School I have worked with the curriculum developer with using Google Documents in the school. I have also attended morning meetings/devotions and worked with teachers 8 - 10 on adding technology to their courses. I have worked with pre-service teachers at Tabor College - the areas covered are on this page.

In staff meetings and with professional development (evidence) the chance to work cooperatively with colleagues (evidence) is a rewarding opportunity to reflect and improve knowledge and practice. Currently I am team teach Google SketchUp and working with others at Torrens Valley Christian School to involve staff and students in Google Documents. Accepting guidance is what keeps me not only on task, but furthers my personal development to become a more efficient and creative teacher.

As department chair and as director of technology at two large schools in New York I have demonstrated my administrative capabilities. With the World Wide Web one needs to be most prudent in order to maintain a safe environment for students of all ages to be able to complete their academic work. As a server administrator at Ross Global Academy this responsibility is ever present to prevent outside sources from infiltrating the educational system.

Currently, and at my other two practicums I attend to the attendance, attend morning meetings and stay up to date with requirements such as police checks: fingerprinting in New jersey, FBI and Homeland Security in New York City, Police Check and Catholic Schools clearance in South Australia as well as Mandatory Reporting and First Aid certificate.
