Thursday the 12th of January

Finish off your button today. Below is yesterday's notes.

  1. Gather six or seven photos that are of a similar nature, for example I have chosen seven photos of Ms Biemond and statues in different cities.

  2. Save them as sequential numbers, such as 'Statue0', 'Statue1', 'Statue2', 'Statue3' and etc. so that when you import the first one the rest will follow as so many duckies in a pond.

  3. In Fireworks or Microsoft Office Picture resize them to about 600 W and 400 H if landscape photos or about 400 W and 350 W if portrait mode.

  4. Following lesson seven make forward and backward buttons with sounds and captions as done in lesson seven but do not do the film strip part.

  5. Make a page in Dreamweaver and save it to your Flash folder and title it FLASH-TEST-BUTTON. Here is my example; http://neuage.info/statues-Biemond.htm

To insert your flash movie into Dreamweaver:

  1. In Flash you will need to export your groovy movie. File > Export Movie > follow instructions

  2. In Dreamweaver Insert > Media > Flash > after you have set up and saved 'FLASH-TEST-BUTTON' to your site.

This will be for a grade and will be due Wednesday - or if we get stuck maybe Thursday. The end result will be that I can click on your forward and back buttons and see six images that will change and the buttons will change colours and there will be sound. A rubric for grading is below.

Your grade:

10 % on having your photos on the same topic

15 % your forward and back buttons work with a change in colours

15 % each photo is labeled properly

20 % everything in your movie is in its right place, including the sound working

20 % on your webdesign (including title bar, the movie centered and working)

10 % done on Wednesday or at least by Thursday

For example

I would have lost 5 % on my example as I did not have sound; 5 % because my 'forward' button says 'back' when I roll over it; 5 % due to the words in the centre not being in the centre. So far all my bloody good intentions and hard work I only received an 85%.
