As a
computer teacher and technology integrator for the past ten years I have
conducted my teaching in a learner-oriented philosophy in line with social
constructionist pedagogy. With students involved in constructing their own
knowledge they become responsible for their learning.
á
My
role has been to offer the tools to work with. As well as the many software
programs that I teach and have taught such as the Office and Adobe suites and
CAD programs, I advocate and work with social networking to facilitate students
in responsible-communication locally and globally.
á
My
PhD thesis was entitled ÒConversational analysis of Chatroom ÒtalkÓÕ. Chatrooms were primary communicational tools
at the time of my research (at the end of the 1990Õs). My current research and
computing interests are the construct of virtual worlds, podcasting,
CAD (Computer Aided Design using Flash video,
Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup and 3D modeling) as well as the growing array
of collaborative online tools (Google Docs, Moodle, Facebook, YouTube and etc)
á
TodayÕs
students communicate in an online social world and they need leadership to be
effective in this realm. My studies, teaching, and independent work since the
late 1980Õs has put me in a unique position to work with todayÕs students.
