I knew Leigh since we were in primary school together and though we lost touch as the years went on, I always admired and respected him. He was a terrific person with a great sense of humour and a good heart and he will be greatly missed by all. And although Gene got to know him a little better than I over the years, I hung out with Leigh down in the instructional league last September, and was amazed at how much he had grown and matured, both physically and as a person, since I had seen met him as a 15 year old kid. As Leighs first baseball coach and the one who put him on the pitching plate so many years ago I was proud of his acheivements and took great joy in following his successes.
